For Christmas, my sister Julie gave me a bluetooth speaker shaped like R2D2’s head. I confess to having a soft spot for robots and while this little speaker doesn’t technically qualify as a robot, it tickles me anyway. When I turn it on it makes an R2D2 whistle. When it connects to my phone and plays an Audible file it makes a different kind of R2D2 whistle. This delights me more than it probably should. I’ve been listening to Winston Churchill’s My Early Life: 1874-1904. It’s a good book, but Frederick Davidson who narrates it can sound so insufferable at times that having R2 whistle at the beginning and the end makes it more tolerable. I highly recommend this little guy specifically for listening to books while you cook, because if someone calls, you tap his eye and answer the phone. So fun and convenient.
